Zambia
With exceptional guiding, and good walking safaris as a particular strong point, Zambia offers excellent safari options in it’s more niche safari areas. Great for getting away from the crowds and vast herds of elephants. Also home to the world’s largest waterfall, Victoria Falls, which straddles the Zambia/Zimbabwe border.
Lower Zambezi
Situated along the Zambezi river, Lower Zambezi National Park offers excellent game viewing and opportunities for land based game viewing and water based activities on boats and canoes. Game concentrations are high, particularly large elephant herds, lions, leopards and hippos.
Luangwa
Split into North and South Luangwa National Parks, South Luangwa is Zambia's most visited national park. South Luangwa is widely known for having one of the highest concentrations of leopards in Africa and the Luangwa river hosts Africa's densest population of hippos. Day and night game drives, walking safaris and seasonal river boat safaris are on offer.
Kafue/Busanga Plains
Kafue is Zambia's largest and oldest national park, offering an unspoiled, uncrowded safari experience across more than 22,000 square kilometers. Predator sightings can be particulalry good including lions, cheetah and wild dogs. Busanga Plains in the north of the park is a seasonal grassy flooplain that flood ruring the wet season.
Victoria Falls
The world's largest sheet of falling water on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia makes a perfect pre or post safari add on. The Zambian side has viewing access to a shorter section of the waterfall than can be seen from Zimbabwe, but the Zambian side feels more adventurous and when the water is low you can swim in Devil's Pool at the top of the waterfall. Apart from visiting the waterfall itself by foot, activities also include boat trips and scenic helicopter flights, as well as adrenaline activities like bungee jumping, gorge swinging, zip lining and white water rafting.
